About Sawtell Cinema (formerly Majestic Sawtell)
Contact & About
Here’s a glorious redemption story, with a happy ending that you can enjoy for yourself. First transformed from a community hall to a cinema in 1941, this intimate complex gives the impression of a well-loved wild west storefront, and that’s not too far from the truth. Threatened with sale in 2014, the Save Sawtell Cinema alliance stepped up and purchased the building, upgrading it with new projectors, seats, and the clever decision to split its one big screen into two theatres.
The cinema still has a dynamic relationship with its community and hosts local festivals, fundraising events, and fun private parties. With only two mini screens, the Majestic Sawtell limits your session time choices to just a few choice blockbusters or crowd-pleasing mid-budget hits, but makes up for it with a fierce indie spirit.
Keep an eye out for the celebrated handmade choc tops behind the candy bar, just one more way to punctuate your totally unique, totally Sawtell movie experience.
Getting Here, Map & Parking
