The Black Demon (December 12)

December’s the first month of summer, and if you need a solid reason to avoid the beach once the sun’s out, this shark horror movie might do the trick. Josh Lucas stars as a family man trying to keep his vacation afloat when a gigantic megalodon shark gets territorial. This year’s other big (and we mean big) shark movie was basically a flop, so we hope this streaming option takes a better bite at the same material.

Reacher: Season 2 (December 15)

Some absolute idiot is killing off Jack Reacher’s old army buddies, and he’s gonna get just what he deserves in the action-packed second season of this well-received thriller series. Towering actor Alan Ritchson is perfectly cast as Reacher, bringing both size and smarts to a more personal mission than ever before—teaming up with three former teammates to deliver sweet vengeance, expect plenty of knuckle sandwiches to get served up.

Hypnotic (December 26)

Robert Rodriguez’s trippy crime-thriller has taken its sweet time ambling out of cinemas and onto Prime Video, where you (and Ben Affleck) can unfold a mind-bending heist mystery. Of course his missing daughter is somehow connected to a string of bank robberies, with the sinister mastermind behind it all (William Fichtner) possessing what appears to be reality-altering powers. An unlikely Boxing Day treat to unwrap?
