Invincible: Season 2 (November 3)

Fans of this grisly, cynical animated action series have had to wait two years for a follow-up season, and they’re certainly stoked to see how Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) and the rest of the world has reacted to his supervillain dad Omni-Man’s (a chilling J.K. Simmons) season one destruction. If you can’t get enough of The Boys, make sure you jump onto this just-as-grim, two-dimensional alternative. The voice cast is absolutely bonkers, packed with megastar and comedy world talent—each playing ludicrous rip-offs of the superhero archetypes we’re super-tired of at this point.

007: Road to a Million: Season 1 (November 10)

Amazon clearly has a heap of cash to throw at the winners of this high-concept competition series: out of nine pairs of adventuring contenders, only one can win a million pounds, by triumphing at James Bond-inspired challenges. Freed from his domineering dad duties on Succession, Brian Cox plays the M-esque mastermind who’s hidden “10 clues around the world” for the teams to solve. I pray that there aren’t too many poker challenges: I never have a freaking clue what’s going on when Bond hits the casino table.

Polite Society (November 26)

Following in the footsteps of Edgar Wright’s zippy, action-trope-subverting style, this energetic UK action-comedy is bolstered by its central tale of two sisters. Is hyperactive teen Ria just being too protective of her newly-engaged older sis, or is there truly some sinister plot going on with her hubby and creepy mother-in-law? Check out my (spoiler-free) review for more thoughts on this fun if familiar coming-of-age story: if nothing else, it’s certain to get your blood pressure up with its finely-choreographed fight scenes.
