The Acolyte (June 5)

Rewinding back to the glitzy High Republic era in that galaxy far, far away, this new Star Wars series from comedy writer Leslye Headland promises a closer look at the dark side than we’ve ever seen before. Amandla Stenberg stars as the titular problem child, a former Padawan who seems to have snapped and turned on her former Jedi masters. With a sick supporting cast that includes Carrie Anne-Moss and (finally!) a lightsaber-wielding Wookiee, the limited series could be a burst of freshness the oversaturated, Skywalker-packed franchise sorely needs right now.

Under the Bridge (June 12)

Starring Riley Keough and the luminous star of Killers of the Flower Moon Lily Gladstone, this unsettling true story is based on author Rebecca Godfrey’s memories of a 1997 cold case: when a 14-year-old girl left home and never came back, her dark fate tied to a group of seven other kids. Keough plays Godfrey herself and Gladstone is the local cop helping her to uncover the shocking truth. The cast and unusual demographic of the supposed killers makes this new series stand out a tad against the constant barrage of true crime tales we’re exposed to.

The Bear: Season 3 (June 27)

I’m almost too stressed about the upcoming third season of this culinary drama to be excited for it. Last season ended with a blood-draining look at how Carmy’s renovated restaurant might work, with him and the team barely making it out of a disastrous friends-and-family launch night in one piece. Can Sydney step up to the head chef status she’s longed for? Will Carmy’s tenuous relationship with Claire go anywhere, after he basically admitted work is all he can care about? Where’s my appetiser for table three, people, I wanna hear a loud “yes chef”! Behind!
