Star Wars Day additions (May 4)

To celebrate the most midichlorian-infested day of the year, May 4, Disney+ is putting on a Star Wars extravaganza. It is airing the final episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and adding The Rise of Skywalker to its library, as well as premiering a new eight episode documentary series Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian. Featuring Taika Waititi and The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, this behind-the-scenes series will make your favourite galaxy seem not quite so far, far away from reality.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (May 15)

Continuing the Gothic saga of iconic Disney villain Maleficent, this sequel stars Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning, as well as some of the most high camp headgear and costumes available on Disney+. There’s something so delightful about seeing the normally buttoned-up Jolie chow into some scenery as the misunderstood baddie of Sleeping Beauty. And, as a fun self-isolation bonus activity, you can sweep around your house in a bathrobe while watching, and feel just as darkly glamorous as Jolie.

It’s a Dog’s Life with Bill Farmer (May 15)

If, like me, you miss encountering beautiful doggos out on the street during this period of social distancing, It’s a Dog’s Life with Bill Farmer could be the perfect remedy. It’s literally just footage of different breeds of dogs doing different jobs, hosted by the guy who has voiced Disney stalwarts Goofy and Pluto for over 30 years. Guide dogs, sheep-herding dogs, a dog whose best mate is a cheetah—this show promises to be transportingly wholesome fun for the whole family. Or just you, after a particularly rough day. No judgement here.
