Catch-22

Mike Nichols directs this screen adaptation of the classic Joseph Heller satire, with Alan Arkin as Captain John Yossarian, a WWII bombardier desperate to escape the insanity of war but learning that sometimes insanity is the only sane way to cope with a crazy situation.

Crazy in its own right is the lengthy cast list, including Jon Voight, Anthony Hopkins, Martin Sheen, Paula Prentiss, Art Garfunkel, two beloved Bobs (Balaban and Newhart), and the incomparable Orson Welles, who had failed in his own bid for the rights to adapt Catch-22 several years earlier.
