10,000 hours of real surveillance footage is culled down into a fictional narrative in celebrated Chinese printmaker Xu Bing's debut feature.
"A disenchanted young Buddhist nun confronts ‘real life’ after leaving her monastery, with dramatic results. Artist Xu Bing and his team trawled through 10,000 hours of Cloud-based surveillance to pull together the film, including real footage of car crashes, collapsing buildings, plane crashes and other chaotic, factual moments from life in contemporary China. The result is an uncomfortable, fascinating commentary on change and identity in the digital age." (Sydney Film Festival)
