Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves) stars in this feel-good family fantasy about a farmer that interprets a voice in his head as instructions to build a baseball diamond in his corn field.

Ray Kinsella (Costner) hears a voice one night telling him "If you build it, he will come." Thus, he begins to build a baseball diamond in a corn field behind his house. Soon after, the apparition of disgraced ballplayer Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta) appears on the diamond, along with seven Chicago White Sox players that were banned from playing baseball in 1919. Ray receives more messages from the disembodied voice and comes to realise that his baseball diamond was ordained to help give people a second chance.

The diamond built for the film is still an Iowan tourist attraction today, although developers are threatening to bulldoze the site and build a mega sports complex.
