Museum Hours

Set in Vienna, Museum Hours concerns the growing friendship between Johan - once a punk band manager, now a museum guard - and Anne - a down on her luck and out of place Canadian. The grand Kunsthistorisches Museum "becomes a mysterious crossroads which sparks the exploration of their lives, the city and the ways art reflects and shapes the world" (Locarno Film Festival).

Also offering musings on the role of museums and art, the film provides an intimate look at Vienna’s Kunsthistorisches Museum with its famed Pieter Brueghel collection given close attention in particular. Johan frequently considers - both in conversation with Anne and to the audience via voice over - the origins, future and purpose of museums.
