Akira Kurosawa’s epic re-telling of Shakespearean tragedy King Lear. In the 16th century, Lord Hidetora (Tatsuya Nakadai) decides to retire and share his territory between his three sons, Taro, Jiro, and Saburo. Taro, foreseeing difficulties, opposes his decision and is disinherited. However, Hidetora soon discovers that, mocking his authority, Jiro and Saburo have turned against him.
