The River People

Humourous documentary about the small, near-abandoned town of Ernestina, near Buenos Aires. The town's 100 bored residents (mostly elderly) have an elusive scapegoat for their town’s problems: the "river people". As their town becomes increasingly run-down, its residents become fixated on apportioning blame for the state of their town and their personal misfortunes. The prime suspects in all of these cases are the river people, mysterious summer tourists who enjoy the river banks nearby, and who visit the town for a bit of vandalism and other mischief. But with everything blamed on these folk, it is hard to fathom why strange things occur even when they don’t seem to be around…
