Acclaimed documentary Three Identical Strangers is coming to Melbourne and Sydney
Director Tim Wardle’s documentary feature Three Identical Strangers is one of the most talked about and critically acclaimed non-fiction films of 2018.
After playing in Australia at the Sydney Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival, proper seasons for the film have been confirmed for Melbourne and Sydney audiences. Three Identical Strangers will play exclusively at Nova Cinemas in Melbourne (from August 30) and Cremorne Orpheum in Sydney (from September 6).
The film is a stranger than fiction story about three American men – Robert, Eddie and David – who discovered at the age of 19 that they are identical triplets, separated at birth. Wardle explores the strange circumstances in which they met and their sudden rise to international fame in the 1980s.
The film also examines the dark reason why they were separated in the first place. If you want to read more about this (no spoilers here) check out this interview with VICE.
Or better yet, check out the film itself. As critic Anthony Lane wrote: “So bizarre is the tale that Tim Wardle tells, in his new documentary, and so unnervingly mixed the emotions that it provokes, that the less you know about it beforehand the better.”
