Advanced screenings of Early Man playing nationwide on March 25
Huzzah! Advanced screenings of the highly anticipated family film Early Man will be happening across the country on March 25, prior to a national theatrical release on March 29.
Early Man is the latest stop motion animation from four-time Oscar-winning director Nick Park, whose previous feature films are Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
It was produced by the revered studio Aardman Animations, the brains trust behind the previously mentioned films plus others – including Flushed Away, Shaun the Sheep Movie and the upcoming Farmageddon: a Shaun the Sheep Movie.
Park has been working on Early Man since 2010. Producing stop-motion animation is a labor intensive process, creating a very distinct look.
Early Man has so far received a strong response from critics. David Sims from The Atlantic called it a “delightfully English caveman comedy,” while Karen Han from Slashfilm said it’s “so wholeheartedly kind and clever that it’s impossible not to embrace the ride.”
Here’s the official synopsis.
Pint-sized Dug (Redmayne) isn’t really cut out to be a caveman. But when disaster strikes and his tribe is driven from its homeland by the mighty Bronze Age, it’s Dug, the most inept of the tribe, who proves he’s got what it takes and leads them to victory. Set at the dawn of time, when dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures roamed the earth, Early Man tells the story of how one plucky caveman sets off to unite his tribe against a mighty enemy and saves the day.
