After a year of waiting, F9: Fast & Furious has finally arrived in Australian cinemas
In the early days of the coronavirus pandemic (the before times of March 2020), the Fast Saga took a proactive approach to the threatened cinematic release of upcoming instalment F9.
Rather than optimistically pushing its premiere date forward a few months (à la No Time To Die) or succumbing to a digital-only release (Mulan and a few others), the Fast & Furious gang said ‘see ya after the pandemic, peace!’ and immediately decided on a then-shocking April 2021 release.
But you know what? A full year on, after watching other movies get delayed time and time again? F9 was pretty much right on the money, meaning fans can soon witness its bombastic nitro-fuelled cinematic fun safely on the big screen.
The film has now finally arrived and is currently screening in Australian cinemas.
To get excited for the new release, check out this piece which Flicks’ Travis Johnson wrote in 2019, explaining why “pound for pound, movie for movie, and star for star, the best action series currently running is The Fast and the Furious.” He’s for real, fam.
Appropriately enough, the bonkers trailer above makes us feel like the year of agonised waiting will have been worth it.
