Ahoy, Sydney! A floating cinema experience is coming to Darling Harbour
What’s the best movie to watch on a boat. Titanic? Jaws? If Free Willy or The Meg crossed your mind, you might want to quickly book tickets to Sydney’s upcoming Mov’in Boat Floating Cinema Experience, where those two aquatic flicks are just some of the exciting events on a spectacular outdoor cinema schedule.
From December 3 to March 21 20201, Sydney’s Darling Harbour will be home to a cinema experience like no other, giving movie-goers a chance to watch their faves via floating spectator areas, with four different tiers of entry.
The film selection includes nostalgic classics such as Dirty Dancing, The Matrix and Casablanca, as well as more recent and upcoming titles like Death on The Nile, Tenet and The Broken Hearts Gallery. Check out this cinema page for session times.
Regardless of whichever film you choose to watch, however we can all agree that the zany exhibition space is the real draw here. For about $120, you and up to three friends can rent a comfy, fitted-out rowboat and float in front of the screen. If you happen to already have a boat, it’s $50 to bring as many folks as you like into the outdoor cinema area.
There’s also a luxe Star VIP area, with exclusive food and beverage options, or you can rent out a queen-size day bed and watch the movie from there, atop a huge floating platform.
Perhaps most quirky of all is how Mov’in Boat will deliver your in-movie snacks and drinks. After ordering a fresh pizza, beer-battered fish and chips, or just a sweet snack, your bounty will be delivered via jet ski!
Can you think of any better way to celebrate the end of this year than a summery, breezy film screening, at which you can literally ‘float on’?
