Alia Shawkat from Arrested Development is coming to Melbourne International Film Festival
On the next Arrested Development…Alia Shawkat is coming to Australia!
Best known for playing teenage con artist Maeby Fünke in the cult hit TV series, the American actor is currently packing her bags (OK maybe not yet, but soon) for a trip to our shores in August.
Shawkat will be a guest of this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF). In her only Australian appearance, she will participate in a special ‘in conversation’ event at the Comedy Theatre on August 18, reflecting on her life and career.
It is called, appropriately enough, Alia Shawkat In Conversation.
Shawkat will be in town for a screening of the Ethan Hawke-directed biopic Blaze, in which she co-stars. The film chronicles the life of musician Blaze Foley, a country music singer-songwriter from San Antonio, Texas. Hawke has described his film as a “gonzo indie country-western opera.”
