The story behind Zak Snyder’s four hour recut of his underwhelming 2017 Justice League movie is long and tangled, but the end results are lit up spectacularly on screen, textured in surreal chiaroscuro and presented with a boxed in aspect ratio. The plot touches on the usual superhero hokum—involving the pursuit of three all powerful “Mother Boxes”—but the execution is something else.
