Avatar: The Way of Water, James Cameron’s follow-up to the 2009 mega-blockbuster, is set to make a splash (apologies) when it releases in Australian cinemas 15 December (with previews on the 14th).

Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver all return, joined by Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Michelle Yeoh and Vin Diesel. Set several years after the original film, this sequel introduces a free-diving clan known as the Metkayina who inhabit a planet dominated by seas and volcanoes. This drop-dead gorgeous trailer will give you a taste of this new world.
Cameron’s been filming The Way of Water and the third film back-to-back since September 2017. A fourth and a fifth film have also been planned but, as he told Vanity Fair: “Let’s face it, if Avatar 2 and 3 don’t make enough money, there’s not going to be a 4 and 5″.
