Aussie film That’s Not My Dog!, chock-full of local comedians, is now streaming on Stan
After a short theatrical season in cinemas last month, the Australian feature film That’s Not My Dog! has been fast-tracked to Stan, where it is now available to stream. From director Dean Murphy, the rambunctious comedy stars probably the largest collection of Australian comedians of any movie in history.
Take a deep breath, folks, because the list of funny people includes Shane Jacobson, Paul Hogan, Jimeoin, Michala Banas, Steve Vizard, Fiona O’Loughlin, Tim Ferguson, Lehmo, Ed Kavalee, Paul Fenech, Rob Carlton, Christie Whelan Browne, Hung Le, Stephen Hall and Lulu McClatchy. That is quite a roll call.
The premise is as follows. Shane Jacobson (playing himself) invites a group of comedian friends around for dinner. The invite that goes out says ‘Don’t bring meat. We’ll provide the beer. Just come armed with nothing but the funniest jokes you’ve ever heard.’
The critical response to the film has been mixed. Herald Sun reviewer Leigh Paatsch said “Most gags are very old, rundown and have seen better days.” But Simon Foster from Screen-Space disagreed, claiming “Murphy convincingly captures the celebratory high spirits of the night and the sweet intentions of his leading man.”
Stan subscribers can find out for themselves whether That’s Not My Dog! tickles their funny bone.
