Aussie dementia dramedy June Again is now playing in cinemas
Looking back, we’ll probably remember 2021 as a banner year for Alzheimers and dementia dramas. Well, “remember” is probably not a great choice of words…
With The Father, Supernova and now the Aussie dramedy June Again in cinemas, there’s never been a better opportunity to learn more about the debilitating memory impairment illnesses that change so many families around the world.
June Again stars Noni Hazlehurst as an elderly matriarch, who escapes her controlling nursing home to make things right with her family. Caught in a rare moment of lucidity that won’t last, June takes the chance to save the family business, bring her estranged kids together, and perhaps to reignite an old flame.
The trailer below will already get you going with a gentle blend of laughs and tears—maybe it’s all due to the terrific supporting cast of Claudia Karvan and Stephen Curry, who guide June (and the audience) through a fleeting opportunity to find peace in a confusing and changing world.
June Again is currently screening in cinemas all around Australia, a wonderful double feature with either of the more male-oriented films about ageing, mortality and memory we mentioned above. Use our link below to find session times for June Again near you and remember to bring some tissues.
