Australian box office report: Cinemas still thunderstruck by Thor in its second week
Farewell, Everything Everywhere All At Once! The A24 sensation has finally dropped out of the box office top 10, replaced by eclectic picks like the anniversary rerelease of Princess Mononoke and quaint UK/Aussie movies The Phantom of the Open and Falling for Figaro. The Ghibli replay earned $95k, while both charming comedies hovered around $300k in their first weeks.
The top of the box office remains relatively unchanged, however, with Marvel’s latest Thor entry hammering out almost another $9 million last week. That means it’s achieved a cumulative total of over $30 million already, in a mere two weeks.
Elvis and Top Gun: Maverick earned about the same in the last week, around $2.9 million more, and Minions raised another $4.8 million. Banana.
