Australian box office report: Crawdads sing in second place to the mighty Thor
Where do The Crawdads Sing? From their perch near the top of the Australian box office, of course, earning almost $4 million in the drama film’s opening week of release. It barely stacks up to Thor: Love and Thunder‘s commercial reign, though, where another $4 million comes naturally after three weeks in cinemas.
Elvis and Top Gun: Maverick are holding steady in the box office top five, with new horror release The Black Phone not breaking past other mainstay Minions: The Rise of Gru. The scary movie did excite cinemagoers more than Jurassic World: Dominion and Lightyear, which earned a combined $633k to The Black Phone‘s $1.8 million in its opening week.
Racking up $250k this week is the National Theatre recording of Jodie Comer in the one-woman-play Prima Facie: if the franchise and genre offerings at the theatre don’t excite you, this could be your most enthralling choice.
Here are the top 10 films at the Australian box office, July 21—July 28.
