Australian box office report: Super Pets soar, Avatar returns to top three
Our weekly guide to what’s happening at the Australian box office – thanks to Numero.
As Australian school holidays start to get underway, animated animal/hero pic DC League of Super Pets ($5.08M this week, $10.29M to date) swaps place with George Clooney and Julia Roberts rom-com Ticket to Paradise, ($4.07m this week, $8.98M to date) both in their second week of release.
Spots three and four belong to new releases (new, if you overlook the $115-ish million dollars Avatar made upon its original Australian release). The remastered re-release of James Cameron’s 2009 mega-blockbuster earned $1.98M in its first week, with vertigo-inducing survival thriller Fall crossing the seven-figure threshold with $1.17M.
