Australian trailer and release date for Love, Death + Robots: Season 3

Up until the point when robots rise up and enslave the human race (more than they arguably already have), they continue to be very entertaining to watch in film and TV.

Netflix’s animated anthology series has focused on robot beings for two celebrated seasons already, throwing in some salacious romance and celebrity faces and voices too for good measure. Season 3 of Love, Death + Robots will arrive on Netflix this May 20 with more standalone episodes of AI excellence.

In the teaser trailer below, Love, Death + Robots posits itself as the “problem child” amongst Netflix’s more prestigey original series. To be fair it has earned an Emmy or 11, so it’s not such a dark horse compared to other quirky animated shows. The aesthetics in the teaser seem to be striving for transgression, with some freaky video-game-esque characters gyrating and battling with uncanny visual style.

The series is still produced by boundary-pushing director David Fincher and Deadpool‘s Tim Miller, but each episode is directed by different crews from around the world. One of the only things we know about the third season is that it will feature a sequel to season one’s “Three Robots”, about robo-buddies surveying the post-apocalyptic wreckage of human civilization.

As with any anthology series (such as Netflix’s fellow sci-fi show Black Mirror), season three is bound to have its hits and misses, with fans all singling out different entries as especially worthwhile.

Episode 14 of the first season stands out as a common fave, telling the emotive story of a mysterious artist whose works are all made in a single shade of blue. Judging from the title of the whole show you may be able to guess the secret of the artist’s biology, but it’s the striking tone and look of the story that makes it memorable. Death to all humans, I say.
