Australian trailer and release date for M. Night Shyalaman’s new thriller Old
“You have wrinkles”: never before has there been a more terrifying line in a horror movie trailer.
M. Night Shyamalan’s latest twisted thriller takes place on a seemingly idyllic beach, where parents Vicky Krieps and Gael García Bernal bring their young kids for a chance to “slow down.”
Since this is a Shyamalan movie, we know there has to be some kind of disturbing twist, and the trailer below gets to the point pretty quickly. The family doesn’t get tanned, or attacked by sharks: they just get Old. Fast.
“There’s something wrong with this beach”, one tourist realises way too late, by which point all the kids have turned into confused young adults (Thomasin McKenzie, Alex Wolff, and Aussie Eliza Scanlen). Can the doomed travellers find a way to escape before the rest of their lives literally flash before their eyes?
Old is now screening in Australian cinemas (the ones that aren’t in lockdown, that is). While the central horror of the movie might not seem to be a good source of big screen jump-scares, Shyalaman will hopefully have a few tricks and twists up his sleeve to keep us guessing, starting with some kind of mysterious dark possessing force in the trailer above, and a coded message that could save the beachgoers youth.
