Bloody hilarious: trailer and release date for What We Do In The Shadows season 4
Conceived as a spin-off of Taika Waititi’s mockumentary feature of the same name, What We Do In The Shadows has mutated into its own glorious, blood-sucking beast, season by season.
The fourth chapter of What We Do In The Shadows swoops onto BINGE this July 13, presumably jumping ahead a bit in time since Laszlo (Matt Berry) shipped his wife Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and the vampire’s familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) off to London.
Since then, the revolting baby version of energy vampire Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) has grown into his terrible twos, begrudgingly raised by Laszlo in the found family’s Staten Island manor. The trailer below shows another doomed plot thread: Nandor’s (Kayvan Novak) search for a bride…when the love of his life is clearly right there in the still un-vamped Guillermo.
We reckon this continues to be one of the best comedy ensembles on TV. Whichever vampire is speaking, you’re like “yep, this is my favourite performer on the show”, until the next one steps up to spit some sick bars. “Gonna bust loose/on the club roof/sucking throat juice/like it’s Gray Goose”, Nadja proudly rhymes.
Each season will quietly reveal a new, mundane version of the show’s supernatural anthropology, from witches to ghosts and now genies in the new trailer above. With another ten episodes of this new batch arriving weekly over July, August and September, the fangs and pleather will fly.
The show’s Romani-inspired score is neat as usual, but we kinda hope Boney M’s “Rasputin” gets played in the new season, too, since it’s just such a perfect match in the new trailer. Hell, Rasputin could even show up as an antagonist. Or a new romantic partner for Laszlo or something.
