Brec Bassinger is back in Stargirl season 2, now streaming on BINGE
Kids today have way too much on their plate: how can we expect them to juggle school, family, a social life, and extra-curricular, character-building activities like wielding a cosmic staff and leading the super-powered Justice Society of America?
Teen hero Courtney Whitmore is back in season two of Stargirl, one of the most enjoyable series in the new canon of DC’s comic-book stories adapted for TV. As of May this year, Stargirl has been renewed for a third season in the future, so it’s time to start getting starstruck by this immediate season of super-drama.
New episodes are flying onto BINGE, with all 13 episodes of season two coming out weekly until November 3.
Brec Bassinger plays the high-school hero, gifted with a superpowered staff and dazzling abilities after her kindly stepdad Pat (Luke Wilson) revealed that he was once the legendary Starman’s sidekick. In the below trailer for season 2, it seems like it’s not enough for Courtney to just save the world: she has to manage conflict in the juvenile Justice Society of America and within her family and friendship circle.
Amy Smart, playing Stargirl‘s mum, lays it all out for her: “You’ve gotta decide whether putting on that mask is worth messing up everything else in your life.”
Stargirl has been applauded as one of the most optimistic and empowering new series in DC’s Arrowverse, a complex shared universe that kicked off with Arrow and has since spiralled into appearances from all number of A-list and obscure DC characters alike.
Season two of teen super-heroics should be just as entertaining, judging from some of the epic CGI battles and staff moves in our trailer for this new batch of episodes. If you’re a comic-book mega-fan, it might feel agonising to wait for each new episode on drop on BINGE week-by-week, but as Pat points out to Courtney, one can’t be all super all the time: “It’s about finding a balance.”
