David Stratton’s Story of Australian Cinema has been nominated for an Emmy
A television mini-series about Australian cinema and the career of one of this country’s most famous critics has been nominated for an Emmy Award.
The International Emmy Award Nominations, unveiled this week, included a nom for the documentary David Stratton’s Story of Australian Cinema.
The mini-series is a look at some of the nation’s most important and influential films, as well as a portrait of the beloved critic who recently participated in Flicks’ poll of 21st century Australian cinema.
The series played on ABC TV in three parts, and was also released in cinemas in a shorter version – as a stand-alone feature film documentary called David Stratton: A Cinematic Life.
A film about a critic turned out to be critically acclaimed. It is currently sitting on an 82% Rotten Tomatoes approval rating.
The Emmy Award is the latest in a highly successful run for the director and writer (of both versions of the production) Sally Aitken.
Congratulations Sally, and congratulations Stratts!
