Elderly superheroes will grumble about the modern world when Jupiter’s Legacy arrives on Netflix in May

“The world is changing”. Yep, we know, we hear that in just about every trailer for every superhero movie.

But in the case of Jupiter’s Legacy, a Netflix super-series focusing on 1930’s-era superheroes trying to raise children in the modern age, we can’t wait to see how Depression Era heroism measures up in a very different new world.

Josh Duhamel and Leslie Bibb star in the upcoming series as The Utopian and Lady Liberty, both original comic book creations from Mark Millar (creator of other action franchises like Kick-Ass, Wanted and Kingsman: The Secret Service). Once the symbols of American might, they’re now struggling to raise rebellious teen superheroes Chloe and Brandon.

“Brandon, Chloe; everything you do is a reflection of this family”, Duhamel explains to his hyper-talented offspring in the trailer below. “You have to live up to an ideal.” Whether the kids will rise to the challenge remains to be seen, over the course of eight episodes released at once on May 7.

If you already love subversive comic-book shows like The Boys and Invincible, Jupiter’s Legacy looks like a slightly more serious and earnest addition to that recent canon. And with all that Netflix money behind it, the show seems to feature some glorious scenes of CGI battle and devastation—almost on the same scale as cinematic superhero tales.

Witness the inter-generational super-powered mayhem from May 7, when all episodes of Jupiter’s Legacy will arrive on Netflix.
