‘Evil Dead’ coming to Auckland and Wellington
Seeing the release date for gore-filled horror Evil Dead bumped back to August was disappointing given how much we have been looking forward to seeing this modern take on the Sam Raimi horror classic.
The great news for horror fans today though is that Evil Dead is now just weeks away, with sessions in selected Wellington locations from April 19th and in Auckland from April 25th.
Evil Dead has just slayed the competition at the US box office, making $26 million in its opening weekend and leaving G.I Joe 2: Retaliation and The Croods tied for second place.
Shot in New Zealand, and starring a female protagonist, Evil Dead offers a new, blood-soaked spin on the original cabin in the woods tale. Raimi co-wrote the script with debut director Fede Alvarez and Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body).
Mia (Jane Levy), a young woman struggling with sobriety, heads to a remote cabin with her brother and a group of friends, where they discover the Book of the Dead – leading, of course, to terror and carnage.
Evil Dead is playing at The Embassy in Wellington from April 19th and Hoyts Sylvia Park and Event Queen St in Auckland from April 25th.
We’ve got ten double passes to give away to the opening night in Auckland. Click here to enter the draw!
