Here are the streaming services with the most content in Australia
We’ve all done the whole endless scroll pantomime, where we flick between streaming service homepages and moan that there’s nothing to watch—whilst knowing full well that thousands of undiscovered titles are just waiting for us to stop being indecisive and hit play.
But which platform really does offer the most content? It won’t make your decision as to what to watch any easier (that’s what Flicks is here for!!), but new data from Uswitch has confirmed which platforms available in Australia offer the most in terms of film and TV titles.
Coming out on top is Prime Video‘s Australian library, with almost 9,000 titles available to watch for subscribers. That’s about 2k more than Netflix, still the country’s most popular service, with BINGE, Aussie-made platform Stan, and the wildly popular Disney+ all trailing behind with around 2.3k-2.5k titles each.
DocPlay appeared sixth on the list with 1,034 titles: the amount of Apple TV+ and Paramount+ titles must be much more limited.
These findings certainly reflect the experience of scrolling around on Prime, where well-promoted titles like The Boys and The Summer I Turned Pretty dwell alongside a monster library of unfamiliar Hollywood and international projects.
The right side of the table shows that Prime also offers streaming viewers the most value for their monthly subscription fee, costing $0.0006 dollars per title. Yeah, that’s about what we’d pay for The Tomorrow War.
Counting up the titles available on free streaming services below, it looks like library-based platform Kanopy has the highest quantity. But that’s somewhat deceptive, considering available titles will depend heavily on the particular library through which users sign in to use the platform.
It’s also surprising to see just how selective national broadcaster ABC iview‘s library is, with not even 800 titles available at once.
