Horror classic Evil Dead 2 is returning to Australian cinemas in 4K
A spit-polished, blood-spattered new version of the 1987 cult classic Evil Dead II is coming to Australian cinemas in October and November.
A beautiful new 4K restoration, which promises to exhibit the most pristine-looking version of the film yet, will screen at Event Cinemas on October 22 in Queensland, New South Wales, Northern Territory and South Australia.
The Victorian premiere will be Sunday November 25 at Melbourne’s Cinema Nova.
Since it first arrived three decades ago, the highly celebrated horror/comedy – from director Sam Raimi – has had a huge impact on popular culture.
According to a recent article on Gizmodo, many films could not have been made without it including Cabin in the Woods, Shaun of the Dead and Bubba Ho-Tep.
Critics to this day continue to rave about it, with many praising Evil Dead II for its visual inventiveness. Joshua Klein from AV Club said it has “rampant inventiveness and manic energy” while Kevin Thomas from LA Times called it “spooky Grand Guignol fun.”
So to Ash, the inimitable hero of the film (played by a never-better Bruce Campbell) we say: welcome back to the cinema, good sir.
