How to watch Attack on Titan: The Last Attack in Australia

Not an adaptation, nor a sequel or a standalone film, but a compilation film of the fourth and final season of the anime series Attack on Titan. Rightio. My eyes rolled so far into the back of my head I saw my own optic nerve..

How to watch Attack on Titan: The Last Attack in Australia

Attack on Titan: The Last Attack is screening in Australian cinemas from February 6, 2025.

What is Attack on Titan: The Last Attack about?

Well, there’s these Titans, see…

Based on the manga series of the same title created by Hajime Isayama, the anime series Attack on Titan is set in a post-apocalyptic world where what’s left of humanity cowers inside walled cities due to the Titans—a race of giants who looooove eating people. After his city is trashed, protagonist Eren Yeager and his friends Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert enlist in the elite Survey Corps to fight back against the massive marauders. There’s a whole, compicated backstory and lore galore, but even a ruthlessly concise synopsis is tens of thousands of words, so you’re on your own.

However, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack is a compilation film, combining the final episodes of the fourth season into a lean 145 minutes. Which means either the source series has an awful lot of inessential filler, or this thing is a glorified clip show. Or possibly a secret, third thing. You be the judge! Does seem like a pretty shameless cash grab, though.

The cast of Attack on Titan: The Last Attack

Yuki Kaji voices Eren Yeager; Yui Ishikawa is Mikasa Ackerman; Marina Inoue is Armin Arlert; Takehito Koyasu is Zeke Jaeger; and Yoshimasa Hosoya is Reiner Braun. A quick glance at the listings indicates we’re not getting a dub release, although one exists, so if you happen to stumble across that, you’ll be hearing Bryce Papenbrook, Trina Nishimura, Jessie James Grelle, Ernesto Jason Liebrecht, and Robert McCollum in those roles.

Why we’re excited about Attack on Titan: The Last Attack

It’s pretty clear this one is strictly for the fans; newcomers will be absolutely baffled. And that’s fine, mind you—not everything has to be for everyone. But if you’re not already on board, this isn’t gonna change things.
