How to watch Disclaimer in Australia
Another week, another lit-fic prestige streaming adaptation. But this one stars Cate Blanchett and is written and directed by revered Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón. We are intrigued.
How to watch Disclaimer in Australia
Disclaimer is now streaming exclusively in Australia on Apple TV+.
What is Disclaimer about?
Based on the 2015 novel of the same title by Renée Knight, the seven part series sees Blanchett as journalist and documentarian Catherine Ravenscroft, whose life begins to unravel when a new novel is inexplicably delivered to the home she shares with her husband, Robert. The book is fiction, but seems to recount a secret from Catherine’s past that she would prefer be left long-buried.
Does it have something to do with retired teacher Stephen Brigstocke, who seems to have an axe to grind with Catherine regarding the long-ago death of his son? The odds seem strong on that one…
The cast of Disclaimer
Cate Blanchett is Catherine Ravenscroft, with Leila George as the young Catherine in flashback sequences; Kevin Kline is Stephen Brigstocke, and it’s pretty great to see him again; Sacha Baron Cohen is Robert Ravenscroft, Catherine’s husband, with Adam El Hagar as the young Robert; Kodi Smit-McPhee is Nicholas Ravenscroft, Catherine and Robert’s son; Louis Partridge is Jonathan Brigstocke, Stephen’s late son; and Lesley Manville is Nancy Brigstocke, Stephen’s late wife. Plus HoYeon Jung, Liv Hill, and Gemma Jones aare in supporting roles.

Why we’re excited about Disclaimer
The book is a banger, Blanchett has been on fire lately (Borderlands aside, but they can’t all be winners), Kevin Kline has a major role after a while spent mostly doing animated voice over work, and Alfonso Cuarón is one of the world’s most respected filmmakers. So we’re keen to see how he handles this kind of long form screen storytelling. Everything points to this one being a must watch.
