How to watch Dune: Prophecy in Australia
Dune: Prophecy is now streaming in Australia on Binge.
What is Dune: Prophecy about?
Details are a bit thin on the ground, but the series follows the Bene Gesserit, the mysterious and Machiavellian order of women who wield much quiet power in Dune‘s far-future setting, and how they came to their position of eminensce. Expect lots of political maneuvering, the odd spot of violence, and possibly a giant worm or two.
The series draws on the Great Schools of Dune prequel trilogy novels written by Brian “Son of Frank” Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, which are dreadful (frankly, you can stop at Children of Dune and count yourself lucky). But it’s not a direct adaptation, so we should be okay.
The cast of Dune: Prophecy
We’re getting a staggeringly impressive cast on this one. Emily Watson stars as Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen, leader of the Bene Gesserit. Plus there’s Jessica Barden as the young Valya; Olivia Williams as Reverend Mother Tula Harkonnen, Valya’s sister; Emma Canning as Young Tula; Jodhi May as Empress Natalya; the mighty Mark Strong as Emperor Javicco Corrino; Sarah-Sofie Boussnina as Princess Ynez, their daughter; Shalom Brune-Franklin as the Fremen Mikaela; Faoileann Cunningham as Sister Jen, Aoife Hinds as Sister Emeline. Oh: and there’s Chloe Lea as Lila, three acolytes of the Ben Gesserit order; and Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart, an enigmatic soldier seeking to earn the Emperor’s trust for reasons of his own.
