What is Rick and Morty season 7 about?
Co-created by Justin Roiland (more on him in a bit) and Dan Harmon, it’s a sci-fi animated comedy that reveals in gross-out gags and edgy, often offensive humour – but it’s also about the absurdity of being a self-aware creature in an infinite and uncaring universe.
It’s very, very smart, but isn’t too proud to have a recurring character called Mr Poopybutthole. You’re either mad for it or completely dismissive – there’s very little middle ground.
The cast of Rick and Morty season 7
Justin Roiland, who used to voice the two main characters, got canned after allegations of domestic abuse and sexual impropriety surfaced. So now Rick is voiced by Ian Cardoni and Morty is played by Harry Belden, two almost unknown voice artists.
Fan reaction has been mixed, to say the least, but the casual viewer, if such a thing exists, won’t notice. Sarah Chalke, Jerry Parnell, and Spencer Grammer return as the rest of the Sanchez family, and this season High Jackman crops up for an episode, playing a version of himself.

What are the critics saying about Rick and Morty season 7?
There’s been a big drop off this season, with critics noting that the once-revered series is now spinning its wheels. Reviews have been broadly positive, but it seems clear the bloom is off the rose. Still, if you vibe with the show (and aren’t currently making apoplectic YouTube videos about Roiland’s dismissal) you’ll have a good time.
