How to watch Star Trek: Discovery season 5 in Australia
As the final episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation told us oh so many years ago (remember when that was the new Star Trek series?) all good things must come to an end. And so it is with Star Trek: Discovery, with its fifth and final season now imminent.
When is Star Trek: Discovery season 5 being released in Australia?
Star Trek: Discovery is now streaming in Australia exclusively on Paramount+. The first two episodes drop immediately, with the remaining eight being doled out weekly.
What is Star Trek: Discovery season 5 about?
With the starship Discovery now stuck in the 32nd century, some nine centuries after the Original Series, Captain Michael Burnham and her valiant crew are on a quest for a long lost and mysterious power—probably to try and replace all the dilithium that went kablooey and shattered the Federation and the rest of galactic civilisation. Of course, that means every other spacefaring faction is after it too, which will probably work out fine.
The cast of Star Trek: Discovery season 5
Sonequa Martin-Green is Captain Michael Burnham, Doug Jones (The Shape of Water and many other films and series requiring a tall, thin man to squeeze himself into a rubber suit) is First Officer Saru, Anthony Rapp (Rent) is Paul Stamets, Mary Wiseman is Sylvia Tilly, Wilson Cruz is Hugh Culber, Blu del Barrio is Adira Tal, David Ajala is Cleveland “Book” Booker, and ubiquitous genre actor (seriously, he turns up everywhere) Callum Keith Rennie is Rayner. Plus, body horror big dog David Cronenberg is back for a guest spot as Dr Kovich.

Why we’re excited about Star Trek: Discovery season 5
Star Trek: Discovery struggled to find its feet for the first couple of seasons, but once the show jumped forward in time it really started firing on all cylinders. We may never revisit these characters again, so we’re keen to give them a good send off.
