What is Teaches of Peaches about?
Peaches! Filmed during her 2022 concert tour to mark the 20th anniversary of her breakthrough album The Teaches of Peaches, Fussenegger and Landkammer’s film uses the landmark disc and subsequent tour as a lens through which to view the whole Peaches dealio: anarchic, profane, sex-positive, raw, honest, and catchy as all hell.
We also get plenty of archival footage and interview material, filling us in on her childhood growing up in a conservative Jewish household, her early musical explorations—including folk trio Mermaid Cafe—an album, Fancypants Hoodlum, released under her own name, leading up to her breakthrough single, Fuck the Pain Away, that put her on the map. But there’s also plenty of discussion about her battles in the face of institutional sexism in the music industry, and her struggle to maintain her own voice in a world that demands artists be easily categorised. Our man Steve Newall has a whole interview with her on the film, if you care to direct your attention to that link.
The cast of Teaches of Peaches

Look, the festival buzz has been huge, Peaches is one of the most outspoken and important artists of the last 20-odd years, and those Germans tend to know a thing or two about electronic music. It’s a big yes from us.
