The Good Doctor comes from producer Daniel Dae Kim and was developed by the creator of House, another medical drama about a socially unorthodox doc. But Freddie Highmore’s lead performance as Dr. Murphy makes him out to be a far more gentle and loveable chap, drawing in the empathy of audiences around the world (particularly Italy, where the show is absolutely huge for some reason).
After the shocking death of one of the hospital’s most beloved staff in the prior season three, the most recent season of The Good Doctor is greatly characterised by grief: the doctors mourning their lost colleague and romantic interest, our hero Sean heartbroken as he tries to stay connected in a long-distance relationship, and every character grappling with the medical and personal destruction of the coronavirus.
