How to watch the hit Pollywood sequel Chal Mera Putt 2 in Australia
The stress and instability that illegal migrant workers face is no laughing matter—unless it’s in the form of Pollywood’s Chal Mera Putt comedy franchise, started by a 2019 film all about a gang of bumbling Indian workers trying to settle into Birmingham, England.
With returning director Janjot Singh, a soundtrack of songs that are already chart hits, and the same hilarious cast, Chal Mera Putt 2 is available to watch in select Australian cinemas now, wherever coronavirus lockdowns do not impact cinema sessions. Check this page for details.
After the threat of immigration raids and personal crises in the first film, Jinder (Amrinder Gill), Bikkar (Hardeep Gill), Billa (Gurshabad) and their motley crew of new mates are still quietly (yet calamitously) making their way in Birmingham’s unsteady working world.
But homesickness is no joke, and the otherwise-bubbly trailer below ends on a sad note, with the men sorely missing their families back in India during Diwali. All the physical comedy, goofy insults and saucy new romances in the world can’t surpass the realistic obstacles these characters have to face—the reason this franchise is better known as ‘dramedy’ than straightforward culture-clash comedy.
There are currently session times to see Chal Mera Putt 2 in select cinemas in Western Australia, Tasmania, South Australia, and Queensland. Hopefully Pollywood fans in states more severely affected by COVID lockdowns will have their chance to look and laugh soon, too.
Until then, use our handy link below to find a session time, or you can check out the original Chal Mera Putt as part of Prime Video‘s streaming library.
