What is The Perfect Couple about?
Set, like the bulk of Hilderbrand’s work, in picturesque Nantucket, Massachusetts, at the height of the summer wedding season, The Perfect Couple starts in beach-read romance territory before quickly shifting gears and becoming a murder mystery. We find ourselves in the lead up to the 4th of July weekend marriage of middle-class Amelia Sacks to Benji Winbury, scion of a ridiculously wealthy family whose matriarch, Greer Garrison Winbury, who is a successful mystery novelist.
When a body turns up on the beach, wedding plans are put on hold while detective Nikki Henry tries to figure out whodunnit. This being a gathering of a whole heap of disgustingly wealthy and powerful people, there’s no shortage of motives to unravel and dark secrets to discover.
