The Sloth Lane is in Australian cinemas now.

What is The Sloth Lane about?

After a huge storm wipes out their home, a family of sloths (they talk – you know how these things work) including speedy go-getter Laura up stakes for the big city with nothing to their names but their treasured family recipe book and a clapped-out old food truck. But that decision brings them into the sights of conniving cheetah and fast food impresario Dotti, who smells an opportunity to revitalise her failing business with their food.

All without paying them, of course, because capitalism. Can Laura save to day? It’s a safe bet but your kids will be on the edge of their booster seats.

The cast of The Sloth Lane

Teo Vergara (Turn up the Volume, Crazy Fun Park) voices Laura; Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones is the avaricious Dotti Pace; Olivia Vásquez (Thor: Love and Thunder) is Gabby, Laura’s mother; Ben Gorroño is lovable doofus sloth, Luis; Facundo Herrera (Standing up for Sunny) is Mani, shockingly yet another sloth; Remy Hii (Spiderman: Far from Home, Crazy Rich Asians) is Dotti’s tech guy Platy the Platypus; and Dan Brumm (Bluey) is the voice of Chief Furbank.

Why we’re excited about The Sloth Lane

Well, it looks pretty decent, doesn’t it? A few rungs below the Pixars and Laikas of the world there’s a whole ecosystem of modestly budgeted kids movies, and you can find the odd gem or two in that fecund field. The Sloth Lane looks like it could be a winner, or at least something to occupy the ankle biters for a brisk 89 minutes. And hey, who doesn’t like sloths? They eat poop and cockroaches live in their fur!
