Mark Wahlberg’s burger chain Wahlburgers could soon open locations Down Under
If Mark Wahlberg burgled his way into Australia by opening several locations for his chain of Wahlburgers burger restaurants, how many burgers would Mark Wahlberg’s Wahlburgers burgle?
Sounds like nonsense, but could be good news for Aussie fans of fast food and Transformers: The Last Knight alike; Mark Wahlberg is bringing his Wahlburgers family food empire to Australia.
For a while now, cult US fast food brands have made tentative moves to colonise Australia’s food and retail scene, with chains like Five Guys, The Boiling Crab and Carls’ Jr all opening up locations down under in the next few years.
Wahlberg’s successful burger restaurant venture is just one of the most recent, and it seems a flagship store in Sydney’s CBD could be the first official Wahlburgers location in Australia.

The deal appears to have been made in conjunction with United Cinemas, with “15 movie-themed restaurants soon opening within or next to the United cinemas” in suburbs such as Indooroopilly, Craigieburn and Rockingham.
‘Movie-themed’ is a deliciously ambiguous but exciting word. Will the restaurants just be vaguely cinematic, or decorated specifically in the style of Mark Wahlberg’s best movies? I can’t wait to visit a The Happening-themed veggie burger restaurant.
Wahlberg himself was sure to comment on the new venture, highlighting the work of his co-owners and brothers Donnie and Paul.
“This all started with my brother, chef Paul who has spent his entire career in the kitchen. For the last 10 years he’s dedicated himself to bringing guests an exceptional experience, no matter where in the world they are visiting a Wahlburgers.”
The actor continued, “We could not be more thrilled to take this brand to Australia.”
