Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins will slice its way into cinemas next month
When you’re playing with dice, ‘snake eyes’ is just about the worse outcome you can get. In cinemas this July? It’s not such a bad option, with hunky Henry Golding starring in his very own high-octane action spin-off.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is the latest feature film from the G.I. Joe action franchise, kickstarted way back in 2009 by Rise of The Cobra and recently expanded with Bruce Willis vehicle G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation. We’ve got the action-packed trailer below, and a few reasons why this one could be a notch above the rest.
Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding lets fists fly to stop the ruthless Cobra terrorist organisation, and this time it’s personal: the gang killed his father years ago, as good a reason as any to suit up and seek revenge.
“I can’t give you a name, or a past. But I can offer you a purpose,” a shadowy figure tells Golding, handing him a sword with that satisfying shhhiiiiing sound you always seem to get in good martial arts flicks.
Snake Eyes is screening in cinemas around Australia from July 22, a promising new start to the out-of-the-box movie series that started out as nothing more than plastic toy soldiers way back in the 1960s. The sword-slinging flick also stars Australia’s own Samara Weaving and Indonesian stunt legend Iko Awais.
