Queensland horror fans! Acclaimed scary movie Hereditary is coming your way
Pay attention, Queensland horror fans. This one is for you.
The acclaimed new horror film Hereditary, starring Australian national treasure Toni Collette, is coming to Brisbane on May 26, as part of the Monster Fest Travelling Sideshow.
Why is this a significant occasion?
Put it this way. The film, from writer/director Ari Aster, is currently sitting on a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes approval rating.
It’s generated headlines such as this one from The Guardian: ‘Will this be the year’s scariest movie?’ The critics seem to think the answer might very well be “yes.”
Sara Stewart from the New York Post said Hereditary “crafts its own unique spin on terror.” A.A. Dowd from AV Club described it as “pure emotional terrorism” while Joshua Rothkopf from Time Out says it is “a new generation’s The Exorcist.”
That’s one hell of a reputation to live up to. Queenslanders can decide for themselves how bone-chilling the film is on May 26. For everybody else, Hereditary arrives in cinemas nationally on June 7.
