Season four of Rosehaven will premiere on ABC iview in July
If Australia is a lonely, quirky little island at the bottom of the world, Tasmania is the Australia of Australia: an oft-forgotten corner of the country that’s ripe for kooky narrative comedy. It’s also where the fictional town of Rosehaven has been imagined for over three seasons of the award-winning ABC series, with a fourth season available on ABC and the ABC’s iView streaming site in July.
Fans of the feel-good, low-key sitcom will be thrilled to hear that creators, writers, and stars Luke McGregor and Celia Pacquola are back for another eight episodes, to be aired on Wednesday nights at 9pm, starting on July 8.
Rosehaven follows McGregor and Pacquola as Daniel and Emma, a pair of city friends who find themselves running Daniel’s failing family business in regional Tasmania. In a town populated by oddballs and incompetent regional real estate business characters, Daniel and Emma surprisingly enjoy their new life.
In an exuberant press statement, Pacquola expressed her excitement for the upcoming season. “Season four! Can you believe it? Luke and I have aged terribly, but this is our stupidest season yet and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
Luke McGregor joked that the new season would be an improvement on season three in at least one way: “Whilst filming season three of Rosehaven, a pig sneezed in my mouth. That didn’t happen once filming season four and I have only happy memories of it.”
If it’s not obvious from the above blooper reel, Rosehaven is delightfully low-stakes programming, a hilarious but also heartfelt show starring two real best friends as a screwball pair of fictional best friends. If you need a break from all the intense, depressing prestige TV your friends have commanded you to watch, Rosehaven could be the perfect afternoon tea break you’ve been looking for. The new season will be available on ABC and iView from July 8.
