Six Australian films have been selected for Toronto International Film Festival
Six Australian films have been selected to play at Toronto International Film Festival, one of the largest publicly attended film festivals in the world. The festival (also known as TIFF) runs from September 6 to September 16.
They are the feature films Hotel Mumbai, Nekrotronic, Jirga and Emu Runner and the short films All These Creatures and Birdie.
“Having your premiere at TIFF is not only a tremendous honour, but speaks to the feeling in the industry about a film’s creative integrity and the viability of it finding an international audience,” said Graeme Mason, CEO of Screen Australia.
“What stands out in this year’s selections is the incredible diversity of Australian creators that are represented.”
The programming of Australian films at TIFF is significant not just for playing in front of festival audiences, but because exposure there helps break titles into overseas markets.
Other Australian films to have played at TIFF in recent years include Sweet Country, Lion, Goldstone, The Dressmaker, Last Cab to Darwin, Sherpa and Women He’s Undressed.
