Succession, Ted Lasso & The White Lotus lead 2022 Emmy nominations
The 2022 Emmy award nominations are in, with HBO smash hit Succession leading the pack.
Now into its third season, the media empire black comedy has secured itself 25 nominations including the Emmy for Drama Series and a nod to basically every main cast member. Also in the running for Best Drama Series are fellow HBO shows Better Call Saul and Euphoria alongside Netflix’s Ozark, Stranger Things and Squid Game (a first for a non-English language show). Filling out the category are Showtime’s Yellowjackets and Apple Original sci-fi Severance.
After nabbing 20 nominations last year, feel-good football comedy Ted Lasso lassoed 20 more for its second season. It’s up against fellow nominees for Best Comedy Series ABC’s Abbott Elementary, HBO hits Barry, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Hacks, Amazon Original The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Disney’s Only Murders in the Building and FX’s What We Do in the Shadows.
The White Lotus, the HBO series that got everyone talking last year, also gathered 20 nominations. Much like Succession, pretty much all its key cast got a nod. It’s also up for Best Limited Series, running against Netflix’s Inventing Anna and Hulu hits Dopesick, The Dropout and Pam & Tommy.
No Midnight Mass in this category or any others though? That’s an unholy outrage.
The 74th Emmy Awards kick off 12 September in America. See below for the list of this year’s big nominees and head over to the official Emmys website for the complete list of nominations.
