The Astor will screen the 3.5 hour LCD Soundsystem concert movie Shut Up and Play the Hits
The 2012 documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits follows James Murphy – the frontman of LCD Soundsystem – for two days, capturing the band’s final concert at Madison Square Garden.
It was a near four-hour extravaganza that quickly became the stuff of legend.
The Astor Theatre in Melbourne is giving LCD Soundsystem fans a rare opportunity to catch the 210 minute film on the big screen, screening it on Friday February 8.
Shut Up and Play the Hits received a good response from the critics. The Guardian called it “a gorgeously shot concert film” while The New York Times described it as “graceful in its depiction of the performance, neither uncomfortably intimate nor shy.”
