The Continental: From the World of John Wick – Australian trailer and release date
Get ready to return to a bloody and bullet-riddled world of deadly assassins and ancient conspiracies as the first small screen spin-off from John Wick heads our way. The Continental: From the World of John Wick arrives in Australia when it hits Prime Video on September 22.
Not to be confused with the Christopher Walken Saturday Night Live sketch (they really should have cast him in this), The Continental stars Colin Woodell as Winston Scott, the manager of the Continental Hotel played by the great Ian McShane in the John Wick film series. Set in dirty ol’ ‘70s New York City, the streaming event promises to chart his rise to power as he plots a coup against the current manager of The Continental, Cormac (Mel Gibson).
As fans of the films are well aware, this doesn’t mean we’re in for a season of corporate backstabbing and dirty dealings in the hospitality racket. Any backstabbing that occurs will be quite literal. For those who aren’t clued in, The Continental is sacred neutral ground for the Wickiverse’s population of deadly killers for hire, making it valuable real estate in more ways than one.
Michelle Prada, Ray McKinnon, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Nhung Kate, Jessica Allain, Jeremy Bobb, Peter Greene, and Ayomide Adegun co-star—Adegun as Charon, the hotel concierge played by the late Lance Reddick in the film series. Katie McGrath is also on hand as The Adjudicator, the catspaw of the shadowy High Table that runs the franchise’s criminal demimonde, although whether she’s playing the character of the same name played by Asia Kate Dillon in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is anyone’s guess.
Originally conceived as a series, The Continental is now being touted as an “event” comprised of three 90 minute episodes. Is it a series or a movie trilogy? We don’t care, we’re just here for the action.
